Bali was extremely quiet due to the war, SARS and last Octobers bombing. Its a beautiful place and such a shame people are scared to visit.

Whilst we were there, they celebrated Nyepi (Balinese New Year). This involved a noisy procession on New Years Eve to scare away the evil spirits, and New Years Day everyone sits quietly indoors to make any remaining devils think Bali is deserted.
